Where does Turkish come from?
Turkish belongs to the Northern Turkic language group, a branch of the Altaic group of the Ural-Altaic language family.
Initially, the Ottoman language had many lexical influences from Arabic and Persian. During Kemal Atatürk's reforms in 1922, Constantinople Turkish removed foreign words and became a written language. Since 1928 it has been written in the Latin alphabet.
